Covers 101 countries and territories in 10 regions, 20 of them new (list and coverage by edition), with 99 Indicators across nine Domains (Academia, Domestic Politics, Economy, Foreign Policy, Law Enforcement, Media, Military, Society and Technology). Compared with 2022, 16 Indicators are new and 12 were retired; the Layer “Effect” is renamed “Alignment”.

Officially launched in Berlin, covering 82 countries, 36 more than the Beta edition. The methodology was reorganised: the Questionnaire Committee became the Index Committee, and the questionnaire became the Indicators.

Beta edition
The Beta edition of the China Index, released in April 2022 with 36 countries and extended to 46 countries and territories in August 2022. Nine Domains with 11 Indicators each, answered by Regional Partners with local experts.
